Corky has turned into a lovely boy. He is a large impressive boy and has proven to be a wonderful stud dog. He is the sire of Carmel, Chumley & Audra. Corky is my velcro dog. When we walk together he has to be touching me. He is my sweetheart.

Corky
It has come to my attention that there is speculation/rumor surrounding Corky's
leg, so I thought I should share his story here. Corky was born via c-section at Lodi Animal Hospital. Upon delivery it was apparent we had trouble. The umblical cord was wrapped multiple times tightly around Corky's front right leg. The compression of the umbilical cord interrupted fetal development of the ulna and radius (front leg bones). The radius could not continue to grow normally and grew out and around the umbilical cord that was compressing its normal path. Corky thrived but when he became ambulatory he had to be casted daily from the age of 3 weeks -10 weeks of age as that limb was unstable. X-rays were taken at 7 weeks and sent to several orthopedic specialist.I was told that Corky was lucky that the leg/foot developed as that frequently when this happens the compression of the umblical can stop development and many are born with stubs. This can happen in many species including humans. When older, Corky was taken to an orthopedic specialist (Dr. Edinger). To their amazement the body had started laying on more bone in that area, which gave the leg stability. His shoulders and elbows were x-rayed to make sure they were ok, as they were fearful the abnormal limb could cause abnormal development of those joints. We were thrilled to find out that Corky's elbows and shoulders were normal. We were totally in love with Corky and decided to keep him. Corky continued to thrive and gets along great. The abnormality does not impair him in any way. He loves life and is a very active, solid, healthy boy. This condition was due to uterine trauma and we were assured by all the Doctors that it has absolutely no hereditary basis. Corky has a wonderful loving silly temperament and has sired two beautiful litters. (Chumley & Carmel) are pictured on this site. We are thrilled with Corky in every way, and proud to have him as a member of the St. Patrick's clan.
